Focusing on Zhejiang's innovations in social gover-nance, this book offers a clear account of the Communist Party of China's exploratory efforts in building a model of social governance based on collaboration, participation, and common interests, and explains the advantages of the law-based social governancc systen in which system in which the CPC committees exercise leadership, the government assumes rcsponsibility, non-govcrnmental actors providc assistancc, and the public are involved. It also describes China's continuous cfforts to boost public participation and the rulc of' law in social governance and to make such governance smarter and morc spccializcd, as well as the Chinesc approach to social governance under the leadership of the CPC in the world's most populous country.
